AVG uninstall

I down loaded AVG and AVG protection. I'm trying to uninstall them and when I do the install screen pops up.
I'm using fire fox on a dell lap top. Verizon fios fiber optics.
  • I did the control panel and got the same install screen.:h
  • I recently uninstalled AVG - just clicked Uninstall in the control panel.

It wasn't the source of the daily BSOD I've been having so I'm going to reinstall it.

Many programs uninstall that way. OP, just go ahead with the "install" screen and you will eventually get a screen that asks if you want to uninstall the program. Then, after you have it gone, you will be directed to a web page that asks you why you didn't like it.

Joebedford, I was particularly interested in your BSOD comment. I have been having the same problem lately on my laptop. I'm running Windows 7 with all the latest updates and Firefox 41.0.1 For the past month or so I get the BSOD just about once every day after being on the computer for a couple of hours. It just started doing that in the past month or less.

It has never happened to this computer since Windows 7 came out quite a few years ago. When/if you find the culprit causing it please post and I will do the same.

I agree with the post that says to click "Uninstall" from the "install" screen. Many programs do that.

BSOD is typically a HARDWARE fault, not typically software.

Typical culprits are memory, bad power supply, bad caps on the MB..

Sometimes reading the fault codes it will reveal some hints on the cause if you are quick enough..

Additionally you can check the event viewer for details on the events up to the point of the crash. Event viewer will also have what software was running at the time of the crash..

Get the AVG Remover tool on their web site.

If you're having trouble with AVG Uninstall, then I would also try the AVG Removal Tool.
  • I don't want to hijack OP's thread. BTW, my AVG reinstalled just fine. For the OP, all combinations of right-click, uninstall, etc. led directly to uninstall windows, not install.

I'll start a new thread about BSOD.
  • Moderator 1492, thanks for the link. I checked the control panel and it is gone. It took less then one minute.
