If you want to get real serious about setting up an HOME antenna for the NATL BROADCAST CLEAR HDTV Channels order one of these Xtreme Signal HDB8X-NI 8-Bay VHF/UHF HDTV Bowtie Antenna. They are not all that expensive and have two 4-BAY separate BOWTIE panels you can zero-in on two directions and still get great reception.
It works even better if you add a RCA TVPREAMP1R Pre-Ampllifier powered-up by the antenna feed line using a DC VOLTAGE INSERTED signal
I get great reception of the Washington DC CLEAR TV Channels 50 mile to the north from here and I can swing the ARRAY around to the south and get almost the same amount of CLEAR HDTV channels from the Richmond VA area which is about 50 miles to the south from here.
I got similar results from the BATWING and KING Antenna as well before I got the 8 BAY BOW-TIE array.
