Bedroom television installation

I have installed an hdtv in my bedroom connected to the cable box provided. The signal comes from the distribution box with coax, but I get interference with no other electronics on. Same tv show as in main tv but with the static. Any suggestion appreciated. It is a 2007 Winnebago Sightseer. Dish211K in front tv with hdmi cable gets beautiful picture.

We have the Trave'lr with Dish and we have a separate receive in the front room and one in the bedroom. I actually complained to DH that it was overkill, but it has come in really handy to have to separate receivers.

Same here, Traveler with Dish. We are taking the motorhome in tomorrow to have a new TV installed in the bedroom, plus a Dish receiver. I won't miss that old static TV.

Ok, you are sending the signal from front to back with factory installed coax?

Several thoughts come to mind, The Crimp on connectors they use take not much more than a good hard sneeze to pull off, if they pull out just a bit you get a bad connection and it shows up as a poor signal.

Second the cable is usualy lowest bidder RG-59.. Now at TV frequencies and runs under a couple hundred feet this SHOULD be Good, but quality RG-6 is better, Period, Much, Much, Better.

But another issue is the guy who stapled the cable to the stud.. RIGHT THROUGH THE CABLE (hey it happens) also you may have a splitter or such somewhere along the line (Connectors and I've had splitters go bad on me).

    .

We have Dish and the Trav'ler satellite dish. Before we got it, we ran off the antenna and in the bedroom there is an antenna booster button. We had to push that in to get clear reception. Not sure if this will help.

  • I assume your trying to use the cable outlet (TV Set Out) from the 211k to your bedroom set. Make sure both the 211k and your bedroom set are set to channel 4 not 3. It is a noted issue with the 211k to not use channel 3 which I believe is the default channel.

Go to page 85 in your 211k users manual for instructions to change channels.

Remember, by using the "tv set out" cable you will only get "SD" in the bedroom, but I have no problem with this.

This is what I had to do for mine to work in the bedroom. Took me three years to finally find the work around.

Assuming you are trying to use the RF output of the 211K?

If so, the RF output of that receiver may be too weak to get a clean pix..

I had the same problem with my VIP722K, the built in RF modulator doesn't have enough signal to push it over a lot of coax..

Additionally, if your coax is RG-59 and not RG-6 it will make this worse..

If you have it routed through a switchbox that is not amplified and or any passive (non amplified) splitters you will not have enough signal.

I would suggest an alternative method.. It will require a amplified HDMI splitter, a set of HDMI to Cat5 (ethernet Cat5 wire) "converter" (active powered is the best ones).

Sat HDMI goes to the splitter, one side of HDMI splitter goes to the TV closet to sat. The other output goes to the HDMI transmit converter, output of the transmit converter goes to Cat5 cable. The other end of the cat5 cable goes to your remote receive converter.

The HDMI output of the receive converter goes to the HDMI input of your remote TV..

Result will be a much better pix than using the analog RF output of the 211K..

Running the cat5 should not present too much trouble since it is pretty thin and often in RVs there are a lot of common areas in cabinets, under couches that you can run the wire through from front to back.

If nothing else, go under.. Yep, route the cat5 under the RV just tie off to the RV frame and run it all the way to the back..

  • I had that problem once, and I used another cable wire to check the wire from the distribution box and from a RV park source. That fixed it, but what was wrong? Well, the center tip of the cable was about 1/32 of an inch too short in the fitting, and wasn't making a good connection into the female connector at the distribution box.

So, check your male ends to make sure they are long enough in the connectors.
