Best LOW wattage Modified sine inverter?

I am wanting to power 2 led lcd tvs, a blueray, and a nintendo off my hose batteries. I have tested both tvs using cheapie cheapie 75 and 90 watt msw inverters and they seem to function correctly and do not make any noise.

I have ran 2 6ft lengths of 6ga wire. I see many MSW inverters in the 300-600 range that look identical and many different brands. Which is the best value?

  • I bought 2 inverters off ebay. Evidently xantrex made other inverters under the name statpower. Their portawattz model is actually the older xantrex prowatt model. I bought a used 300 watt for $21 and a new 600w for $45 both including shipping!!! Supposedly these older xantrex inverters are a good quality build. Both are MSW inverters. The 600w seemed much more robust than the little one so I figured For that price I could try them both out and see which is more efficient.
  • Hi,

I don't think that you can beat Cobra for MSW. They are rated to run motors.
  • Lol I know that's why I'm trying to upgrade somewhat.

Many of these offbrand inverters look identical to name brand ones. Hmmm.
  • I have a cheapie 300W MSW from an auto parts store and it's fine for 2 TVs and audio system + small rechargeables all at the same time.

You may run into problems with a 75W inverter. My 300W is only rated for 225W continuous.
  • I am using a Harbor Fright 400 watt unit...

for 32 inch flat screen, directv satellite box and 2 laptops for charging.
and sometimes a coffee pot... but other stuff are unplugged for this.
  • Oops, now I see you mentioned MSW.

I think it was niner that came up with the inexpensive fanless MSW inverter that he felt did well for under $20 shipped.
  • The best value for my money is one that:
    a) doesn't overheat
    b) doesn't make noise
    c) doesn't overheat the chargers
    d) costs more than the cheap ones
    e) lasts longer than 1 year.

Both Go and Samlex are fine. I'd avoid anything sold in an auto-parts store.
