Best plan/equiptment/carrier for occasional mobil internet

We used Virgin Mobile for a few years before we got our smarter than us phones.
Started with the thumb drive then went to the overdrive pro so Mom and kids could connect too. The only place I had difficulty using it was at the North Carolina Welcome center. But they had their own wifi at the time and I think it may have had something to do with that.

With it you buy what you need each month and at the end of that month you can buy more or do nothing. I think you have to use it at least once a year to keep the account activated. I never went over on my data with it. Still got them somewhere.

Do not shut it off but suspend it which you can do. I have the same service with Verizon and turn it on and off as needed but it does cost $5 a month when suspended and you have to redo it every three months.

I use Millenicom Hotspot plan, which uses Verizon. It is $69.99 total a month for 20gb. I also use a Wilson sleek V as an amp with a Wilson rv antenna.

You will probably find the best coverage more places with Verizon. They have various data plans. You will find it hard to find a plan you can switch off and on at will. Our Verizon plan used to let us do that but not any more. We are grandfathered in a 5GB per month data plan for $50.00 per month but if we shut it off we won't be able to get it back and will have to take a 2GB plan that is $50.00 per month. We use my old Motorola W-755 flip phone as a modem and a Cradlepoint CTR 35 travel router for wireless access for our 2 laptops.
