Panasonic has about the best sound for a POTS cordless and supports multiple handsets. Both mic and speaker are superb. Only complaint is half-duplex.
If someone is blabbing on and on, can't get a word in unless I take it off speaker ;)
KX-TGA660 is my handset with me now. Range is pretty good, too, plus a speakerphone, voice message, and dialing number pad on the base station.
I put a similar one at an elderly relatives' house. Great sound, but can always hear every word on the TV in the background ;)
