That's a fiber optic digital audio out. The red light is a laser or LED (edit). The button is likely a plug that's installed at the factory that you remove to plug in a fiber optic cable.
It sounds like the TV is confused for some reason. My Bravia has a factory reset option - hopefully yours does too. Not sure what else you can do (other than watch the game with the Bluetooth headphones).
