Is there a simple inexpensive way to save or backup my favorites in the event the computer dies? I sure would hate to lose them as they have taken years to assemble. I'm guessing the answer is an external hard drive. I have tried that before but was unsuccessful in my attempt. If external hard drive is the best way to go could someone offer a few pointers as i don't have a clue. Thanks all for the help.

I use the Firefox browser that has a "Sync" option so that I can sync my bookmarks and other items between my desktop PC, laptop and tablet. I just had to reinstall Windows on my desktop (don't ask) and to restore the bookmarks I just signed in to my Firefox account and the bookmarks came right back.

If you use Google Chrome and have an account your favorites are saved to your account.

How you go about saving Favorites/Bookmarks depends on the browser, but you can easily save them to a thumb drive. They're usually a pretty small file. As an example, my backup file for my Bookmarks from Firefox, probably 200-300 bookmarks, is 240 KB.

If you are using IE then there is an option to export your favorites to a file. Do a google search for "export favorites in ie"
