Bookmarks/Favorites

Is there a simple inexpensive way to save or backup my favorites in the event the computer dies? I sure would hate to lose them as they have taken years to assemble.

I'm guessing the answer is an external hard drive. I have tried that before but was unsuccessful in my attempt. If external hard drive is the best way to go could someone offer a few pointers as i don't have a clue. Thanks all for the help.
  • If you are using IE then there is an option to export your favorites to a file. Do a google search for "export favorites in ie"
  • How you go about saving Favorites/Bookmarks depends on the browser, but you can easily save them to a thumb drive. They're usually a pretty small file.

As an example, my backup file for my Bookmarks from Firefox, probably 200-300 bookmarks, is 240 KB.
  • If you use Google Chrome and have an account your favorites are saved to your account.
  • I use the Firefox browser that has a "Sync" option so that I can sync my bookmarks and other items between my desktop PC, laptop and tablet. I just had to reinstall Windows on my desktop (don't ask) and to restore the bookmarks I just signed in to my Firefox account and the bookmarks came right back.
