Cable hookup to laptop

Trying to save room and I think surely there is a simple way to hook my laptop to the cable outlet in the rv. I know I need a cable on the outside From the rig to the campground hookup. What I need to know is what to do on the inside to be able to watch tv on the laptop. Many of the campgrounds we visit have full hookups with cable, but I know nothing about how to fix it so I can use my laptop instead of a tv. I saw one forum on C/Net that was kind of a cocky answer to this question that gave no useful info for a total non-tech person. I am n.o.t looking to pick up over-the-air channels, just using the cable, if it is possible. Or is this beyond this forum and I just need to contact Best Buy or something. ??
