Truly unlimited data would be you can use as much data for whatever you want (including hotspot)...If the hotspot feature is locked out, it's unlikely it would be unlocked by putting it in another device.
I think you missed the point of my previous post. I have unlimited data on each device. I was referencing using a hotspot, but someone mis-took that as the phone. I am not taking the sim card out of my phone. I am taking it out of a hot spot and essentially putting it in the FW's hotspot. The phone(s) has unlimited data - for itself, but can't broadcast it in hot spot mode. I could add it on, but it was the same price as a dedicated hotspot - so I got that as a hotspot is usually better at being a hotspot than a phone.
Et-al - to add what could be some complexity - FR tells me that some units come with a slightly different version of the connect anywhere equipment - requiring me to activate an account through Lippert (no idea who they might have partnered with) and will not work with any other carrier.
Basically, to me, most (potentially all) the equipment in the FW, while neatly installed, antennas on the roof etc, are basically worthless to me. I am not paying Lippert for a limited data plan which would be exponentially more costly than the unlimited plan I have in a portable hot spot. The Wifi booster might be helpful, but if I have cheap unlimited cellular data, why would I opt for boosted and normally horrible and throttled CG data. If it were a cellular booster, that would be a huge win, but it's not. I am really not sure who they were marketing this tech equipment to. The time and complexity of the install is great, but people who truly need connectivity need a completely different setup.
Anyway, I am away from the FW at the moment, but we have a trip planned in a few weeks and I will try some of these ideas out. I forecast though I will end up with my current hotspot and install an after market cellular booster and the stuff that came with the FW will just gather dust. If I find that I do not have to activate through Lippert but through my own carrier I could do that, but why would I? Why would I opt for activating the connect anywhere in a FW I use a few times a month over a hotspot I can use all the time anywhere? granted We will be part timing in a few mos, but the hot spot still offers much greater versatility.
