Tesla device
I see advertised a device invented by Tesla that cuts your electric bill. Can't seem to find any info on this.

The radio read meter at our Adirondack cottage has an LCD KWH display that makes reading it much easier than old multi-dial days. When it was installed, I was surprised to see that they had an adapter to install it in the original "welder's mask" housing instead of updating it to a modern plug-in box.

I don't know what a smart meter is. But, my brother has a meter on his farm that requires the electric company to drive into his yard every month and read it. There is nothing he can read. And, the nearest big town near me is now putting in meter that will be read by a truck driving down the street.
The problem with both if these is that you have no idea of how much power you are using until a month later. If you have a short in your house you could end up with a whopping bill over a two month period.
When I lived at a house where I had to pay for power I liked that fact that I could read my own meter and then I knew how much power I had used. Then I could calculate it out and plan it into my next months budget.

If you have a "smart meter" on your house, look for the meter reads on the bill. Gone. Only shows usage in KWH. Thats because the meter does not transmit a read, only usage in the form of data.
It's all a Canadian conspiracy. Nothing else in the US is measured in "Kilo" anythings except illegal drugs.

Electric meters are my life and I can tell you that if you have a "Smart Meter" on your house, playing games with the power Co is over for you. What that meter can tell the power co is really everything. Stealing power is really serious and it can cost you big time. If you have a fire, count on your ins co to look into it. As far as reactive power goes, residential single phase has little affect on the bill, big 3 phase it does. The killer for us domestic rate people will be when TOU (time of use) hits us. I know, this is TMI.
