Yea it's a pain, but it does really help the unit. Or clear the cache and cookies or download Ccleaner(which will do it) from Piroform see if that helps. All you need is the free version.
If it is Windows 10, look under 'Updates and Security'. There is an option to 'Reset'. You can elect to keep all your personal files or to remove them. It then re-installs Windows.
After you complete the re-install there is a period of time where you can elect to "undo" the re-install and go back to your broken system.
