I have had a touch screen for long enough to know not having it would not be a deal breaker for me. That being said, I have a non touchscreen computer with Windows 8 on it. Windows 8 is meant for touch screens. Doesn't work so good with non touchscreen.
Touch screens while they are "workable" to a certain extent in SMALL sizes like tablets, they tend to get hard to use on LARGER screens like what would be used for desktops and laptops.
Try gestures on a 17" or larger screen, your hand will never make it from edge to edge so you would have to use BOTH hands to expand something larger than a few inches on a 17" or larger screen.
Somethings just don't work so well when taken to a bigger scale.
Win 8 really doesn't bring any "enhancements" to the table for desktops or laptops, basically it is another "ME" and "VISTA" goof up.
