Does CW online have a sales tax for everyone in any state?I buy a lot of items online to save from having to pay our states sales tax, but buying from CW tax is added still which makes the prices whether on sale or not more expensive than other on line vendors.I'm also surprised if I go to the store and they don't have something I need that I have to pay to have it shipped to the store?If I go to Walmart or Lowes and need something that they sell but don't have in the store, it will be delivered to the store for free or to my house if I choose to pay.I'm not understanding why CW isn't the same way.Yes, I'm very new to RV's. I always wonder about the morality of people who intentionally avoid paying the taxes dues in their jurisdiction. Do they also religiously not use the services those taxes pay for? One example is the roads people drive their RVs over.I think it is fair and reasonable to pay for the services that are provided. To do otherwise is not honest or moral or....

Tax evasion or looking for a tax break? Most states are closing this loop as each legislative session closes. Amazon and others have so increased the mail order on line shopping that states are missing out on millions of tax dollars. So, in the future it won't much matter to the OP becuase they will charge the tax rate in the state the customer is ordering from or the rate the distribution center is located.

If the business has a presence in California they must collect CA sales tax. They may not even have a store in CA, they may just have an office, a receiving dock, or some other activity within the State. The definition is very broad, and defending ones company against sales tax evasion can be very expensive.

I can understand people feeling as they do about wanting to order online to get more for the dollars they have already been taxed on. What did the state do in order to facilitate the online transaction that they didn't already tax you for?

In VT all the money they collected to repair the roads was accidentally spent helping those who choose not to work and need public assistance so now they have just doubled the gas tax so they can make up some of that money.....As a person who drives for a living it adds up not to mention the 9% meals and lodging tax every time you buy something from say McDonalds. So if I can order something and not have to pay tax once in awhile well I sleep well at night not worrying about it,

IF you live in North Carolina you are required to pay a Use tax on out of state purchases. Matter a fact I think there is only two states that doesn't have a requirement to pay use tax on internet purchases.

You make an excellent point and I appreciate your input. In NC we pay a separate road tax so rest assured the roads people are getting my money.

Buying on-line through other states is in no way illegal here in the US and very commonly practiced.

Normally I wouldn't have noticed or worried about a sales tax but while price matching RV washer/dryer combos today on-line I noticed other sites like PPL beat CW by over $300 because of tax alone.

So your telling me the morally correct thing to do was to buy from the seller that added taxes just because I should feel obligated to pay taxes?

Come on, $300 in tax? That would be about $4,250 at 7% for washer/dryer, are you sure you are not stretching the truth a little for dramatic effect? :R

No not stretching at all, I just didn't list everything I had in the shopping cart on top of the washer/dryer. The washer/dryer alone was in the $70-80 range, but by adding the same stuff I was wanting to buy from CW to my PPL cart the difference not having to pay tax was $300.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

The way sales tax works is if the company has a stick & bricks in your state, than they are required to collect the tax. Amazon is now collecting tax in Fl as the just got a warehouse here.

No but if you have a state income tax I bet there is a place to declare it on that form.
