well gave it it's first road test today. have to figure out how to set date/time. don't know which of the three resolutions it is set at so might be able to tweak a better picture. picture is certainly adequate to show I entered intersection on green and cross traffic was in error and that I came to a complete/legal stop at a stop sign, if somebody cuts me off, etc.
picture not good enough to read license plate which for my use doesn't really matter, but better resolution might cure that. picture seems much better when lightened.
finally figured out how to show the video on my computer. SD slot didn't go on when chip inserted, so had to bring camera in and use USB cord. It can take 2-5-15 minute clips and I had it on 2. that was a pain when I tried to see my entire trip of 20-30 segments and was going to change to 15 minutes. but decided that would not be needed for accident, etc. since I wouldn't want to see the first 7 and last 7 minutes anyway so may just change to 5 minute segments.
all in all worth $18.00 for my purposes.
had none of those issues with other cheap units that were reported as cable hard to insert, suction cup didn't work, etc. etc.
it was not at best resolution so changed that. also changed to 5 minute segments.
found date/time select but haven't figured out how to change them.
has a "continue" setting that I can't figure out what it is for and did learn not to scream obscenities when sound record is on.
decided to go to the 15 minute setting. that way the odds are better that it isn't off in the changing time when something could happen.
