- RJsfishinExplorerAnd w/ either of them, it is none of your business why a $49 package ends up being $70 on the bill ! And we let them get away w/ it,......just keep paying the bill, not saying a word,.....kinda like we are just thrilled to have the service no matter what they add to it, and they keep adding to it because we are stupid ! Ok,...IMOO !
- az99ExplorerI had DTV for many years. In the last year they jacked up my bill almost 60% and would no longer offer any discounts. The price became far greater than the value of watching mostly commercials. They also would not sell me a Genie for a reasonable price.
So I switched to Dish with the Hopper. Their customer service is as bad or worse than DTV. I spent at least 6-8hrs on the phone trying to resolve all the install problems and lies of sales.
In our opinion the Hopper is a very buggy, user unfriendly DVR to use compared to the HR24's we had with DTV.
The rain and snow fade issue with Dish is 100X worse than DTV.
As soon as my 2 yr contract is over I will be done with them and back to DTV if satellite TV is even needed by then.
Good Luck - RJsfishinExplorerI changed from dish to direct several years ago when dish wanted 300 bucks to swap the 1 DVR for 2 small receivers. There was no discussing the situation till after I dumped them, then they had plenty of time to talk. They have been beggin me ever since.
But I was upset w/ Direct last year,....almost dumped them when I tried to switch my locals to Quartzsite, and they told me they couldn't do that anymore unless I actually moved there, saying FCC had changed the regs on that. Decided to give it one more shot before dumping them, and the next call to them said they had never heard such a thing, and pretended to not be able to find who I talked to before. Anyway, he switch them, and in 20 seconds I had them. - Crazy_RayExplorerBeen with DirecTV 14 years and NOT THE FIRST PROBLEM. That just us. One happy camper.:B :B
- K_CharlesExplorerWe got USSB around 1990 and they changed their name to DirecTV in the late '90s. We have Dish in the TT. One has more sports and one more movies, other then that they are both the same. I use the live chat function if I want something, not the phone.
The antenna would be the best but it doesn't have a guide. - ricklord2001ExplorerI have switched and am happy
The main reason for my switching, I was able to get HD on the motorhome without changing satallite dishes, To get HD on DTV I would of had to get a more expensive dish. Very happy with customer service also. - Bill_SatelliteExplorer IIYou will find people who have move from DirecTV to Dish and you will find people who have moved from Dish to DirecTV. Both tend to be very happy with their new provider. I guess it's always greener on the other side. I have been with DirecTV for 14 years and have never had an issue that a phone call did not correct. Don't expect the customer service to be any better at Dish. They still hire the same CSR's that read a script and they have the same computers that make the same errors.
- edbehnkeExplorerfrom usa but have gone to shaw from canada. there are companies that deal with this in usa. seems better than dish.
- MarkTwainExplorerHave always had Dish and been satisfied. Phone Tech support has always been able to resolve most issues. If not, they will send a tech out to the house to take care of it.
- KreaseExplorerYes, and yes.
