DIRECT TV FOR RV'S

If this topic has been asked before I don't see it,lol.

I currently have direct tv at home. we are going to continue with that programing when we leave to FT RV. Have any of you had a successful transfer of services??. I know we have to purchase a sat dish and rec, we are getting it from Winegard. But, we are getting a SD dish unlike the HD dish we currently have. and the same deal with the rec. we have an HD dvr rec , and will have an SD dvr rec in the RV. I assume that we'll be sending the dish and rec we currently have back, and that we wont be hit with the early term fee due to continuing service on the road. Im just curious if anyone else has gone thru this and how easy it was??
  • The OP is not going to be able to grab a spare and leave the rest, they are going out full-time! They will need to take (or return) all of their receivers as the RV will be the only place service will exist.
The OP has not returned but hopefully will read my post and let us know if he has any additional questions.

I just grab a receiver from on of the kid's rooms. When you first turn it on (in our case) it will be set to SWM in the setup menu. But you can't change it until it gets tired of looking for the satellite, about 5 minutes or a little longer.

Hit the "EXIT" button on the remote and you can then go on to the setup screen immediately.

We have the Directv HD digital recorder that we planned to take with us this summer. We have the HD tripod mounted dish for the RV. Any reason the recorder won't work under these conditions?

Not a bit...you may have to go thru a setup in your receiver...but not hard...Just know if the dish is different at home vs. what you are taking with you to setup the receiver...
