They are not targeting RV's. They are just dropping the SD (sat 101)across the board. That means anybody that is using the 101 Sat will be losing some channels if not all by the end of the summer. Direct wants all their customers to utilize the HD sats and HD receivers. They feel that the cost of the SD and 101 sat for the fewer people out there does not make economic sense. BTW, Tiffin Motorhomes has dropped Direct as a factory installed Receiver for the 2019 model year. They have supplied Dish Wally receivers for all 2019 with Sat domes from the factory---because Dish has fewer problems(can also supply HD) than Direct TV and probably because of the phase out of the 101 Sat. Another great reason why people need to Cut the Cord, drop Direct TV and go with streaming, they wont make you buy new equipment and over charge you each month for a couple of channels..
1000's of free content on streaming and you can watch it at anytime..
All the sport channels have also gone streaming..
Cut The Cord.. :C
Yep, a firestick or Roku, hotspot and an unlimited data plan. Pick what you want to watch and from a cost perspective - way cheaper than a sat subscription service. Sat TV - especially in RV's - is cumbersome, requires line of sight, expensive equipment and plans and subject to outages.
You can pick up a stick for $30 and no more needed equipment to buy, and unlimited plans are now cheaper than ever - cheaper than a DTV or Dish contract. We cut the cord a year ago and never looked back. I can use my stick in the house, RV, travelling at hotels, anywhere. and it fits in my pocket.
Yep and with Space X Star link internet that will be online in less than a year you can get high speed internet world wide..
2 years and satellite/cable TV companies will roll over and die, don't buy expensive satellite equipment cause it soon will be junk...
:W - bgumExplorerThe day Direct TV drops SD is the day I switch to Dish TV.

Originally it was SD. Have upgraded to HDMI splitter and eSynic that send HD over coax and converts back to HDMI.CA Traveler wrote:
For HD?
My DTV HR44 receiver has RCA connections and a cheap adapter would allow usage of coax to any TV..
I believe HDMI wireless extenders are also available. - way2rollTrailblazer

Actually my home kitchen TV is connected with adapters and coax to the receiver.
BTW RCA connections as in composite and component. And the HR44 is a DVR with 5 channel recording capability. - 2oldmanExplorer II

It's still a coax cable from the dish to the receiver which is no big deal to do yourself. RCA connections are for old TVs, newer use optical and HDMI. New TVs are cheap. A portable antenna on a tripod is about $150 and a learning curve. You can take anything from the house.
All the equipment wiring etc is different. No RCA cable / connections. Different antenna than what I have anyway. Don’t think, but am not sure, that you can take any/ much equipment from house to RV. Think RV needs to be wired and equipment in it that duplicates the house..
But yes, if you want an automatic HD on the roof, and internal wiring, and pay someone to do it, it'll cost you. Your friend definitely did it the expensive way and likely doesn't know he can take equipment from the house. DTV doesn't know where you are. - imgoin4itExplorerAll the equipment wiring etc is different. No RCA cable / connections. Different antenna than what I have anyway. Best place to find detailed info on requirements for the RV is some one who installs equipment or has done it. I know my friend spent about $2400 equipping his coach so he could watch the same TV he has in his house.
