Well, almost correct. You can use a diplexer in the line. I use a diplexer for my Dish sat dish. I wanted to be able to either use my portable sat dish or RV park cable at the same input point using one cable. I am not surprised though that sat techs are unaware. Diplexer will cost all of $1 ea. Amazon sells them. one cable connects to input. One output cable connects to sat input. The other output cable connect to TV input. This NOT a splitter. It is a diplexer.
