Agree with the above. As someone else said when I was doing research for my antenna "you only throw up after the first screw you drill in". After I got through that everything was fine. I used 3/4's of a tube of rubber roof rttv around the base, a dollop on each screw head, and some around the plate where the cables go through into the cabin. One day if I take this off when I trade this rig in, I'm probably going to have to cut the thing off the roof. It's up there solid.
I wouldn't trade this setup for anything. Since it's inside the camper, it falls into the domain of DW. As soon as we stop, she hits the on button then moves onto to something else. A couple of minutes later the tv pops on and we're done. I've watched people spend 30 minutes tinkering with their tripod setup only to give up when they find out that there's too many trees around to get a signal. This thing has gotten a signal in places I never would have bothered setting up the tripod system in because of trees or buildings, but it doesn't hurt to try when all you gotta do is hit a button and walk off. Only once so far did we have to settle for less than we're paying for and that was heavy tree cover and the thing still picked up the non hd channels.
If my next rig doesn't come with one of these I'll be pulling this one off.
