The answer is a bit more complex than YES or NO.
DirecTV has an aggreement, I think with Exceed, to provide 2-way Satellite internet.. However it is different birds (Satellites) and it's "Spot Beamed" so it is not suitable for RV use,,,, Great for a sticks and bricks way out in the stciks though,, Exceed has some very good bandwidths if you are willing to pay for 'em. But only if you are well anchored (Do not move) No good for RVers at this time.
Since this was the OP's original question "Is it possible to get internet via a directv satellite? " The answer actually is a simple Yes or No and No was the correct answer whether he meant DirecTV satellite or DirecTV antenna. - Tom_BarbExplorerComcast.net can be accessed from the internet. you can send and receive e-mail from their site.

Believe Dish has internet but not Direct
Any satellite internet connection has to have rather different equipment than is used for normal TV viewing. There has to be a transmitter to send information back to the satellite. Dish may have an arrangement with one of the satellite internet providers, but I can guarantee that it requires a lot more than the normal Dish TV equipment.
Dish offers a rebranded sister company Hughes Gen4 satellite Internet service. And yes, the equipment is completely different from the TV equipment. - docjExplorer

We will stick with our mifi.
- Second_ChanceExplorer IIFrom talking to people and reading, most full-timers stick with a Verizon hot-spot for internet access (it's what we use).
- Tom_BarbExplorerHughs net was a big mistake for us. less than a gig per minute. my computer would time out before the connection was made.
My AT&T smart phone works any time we have a wifi connection. - Earl_EExplorerSome of the confusion may be that Direct TV often sends out offers for internet. But in our area, for example, it is with Centurylink, the ol' telephone company. Not a viable option and would never work on the road.
- 2oldmanExplorer IIHughes net..not dtv.
