coming out of sleep mode on my 8.1 is almost instant just a couple of seconds
HOWever coming out of Hibernation takes longer
sleep and Hibernation are two different things
and your PC is still using power during sleep, and might even being doing things you don't know about
all sleep does is blank the screen and pause user opened programs/windows
background processes keep operating
