Dish Network Chat

When moving from location to location I always call Dish. I have read on here that people use the chat function, I have tried to search for these posts and have had no luck.

Could someone give that rundown again and this time I will be sure to save it.

Thank You

Ray
  • I always start off in the chat section saying "we are RVers, full-time RVing. I need my service location changed.". Twice now I've had them ask for my full address......where we are camping. FRUSTRATING, especially if we're boondocking!! So now I tell them I don't have one, to change the zip code and if they ask for full address I'll have to speak to their supervisor. Amazing how it finally gets done!
  • I have a canned chat script I just cut and paste with the new address. Always keep the chat transcript afterwards. When they really screw things up, as happened a couple weeks ago, it helps as you untangle your account.
  • We were forced to use chat at the Badlands KOA when we had internet but no phone service. Worked fine.

    Bill and Kate, thank you.

Once you have been through the process once or twice, you can get pretty efficient at giving them the information they need right off the bat and avoid a lot of back and forth:

When you open chat, it asks for your name, phone or account number, and PIN number. If you fill that in first, it really saves some time.

I set up a little text file in Notepad that I can modify, then cut and paste into the chat window. It goes something like: "I would like to change my service location to (insert address here). The billing address and all other account information will stay the same."
