Dish network

Getting fed up with Dish raising prices constantly . I have a wine-guard traveler on my motor home through Dish. If I would switch services to Direct TV or someone else would they work on my Wine-guard
System ??
  • We've been with Dish since we hit the road (August, 2015) and no price increases for our package during that time. We have the "Dish For My RV" plan.

Are you on "dish pay as you go" for the RV. I'm on that plan and my price never changes unless I order a pay per view.

    duplicate.

Same here - have the same plan and it hasn't gone up.

    Good luck with that...

"Comcast, AT&T’s DirecTV, Dish Network, and Charter Communications are among the operators that have notified customers about rate hikes set to go into effect in January for most TV packages. As usual, the providers have cited higher programming costs for jacking up their fees."

Comcast, DirecTV, Dish, Charter Set Rate Hikes for 2018

While the Trav'ler for Dish cannot be converted to DirecTV, you could remove the Dish Trav'ler and install a DirecTV Trav'ler without having to remove the base ring or re-open your roof. You just lift the old one off and install the new one on the same base ring.
Now, you will have a nice used Trav'ler for sale including the base ring which your removed from the new Trav'ler and all the coax and connectors necessary for a new install. It's still not cheap but it will help offset the cost when you sell the used Trav'ler.
As mentioned, DirecTV is not cheap either but they will start you out at a low rate and work you up. I am paying about $150/month these days with the Genie and HD and Whole Home and a 2nd receiver and God only knows what else!

  • Well, not quite everything, but enough to makemit cost prohibitive. The best alternative might be a ground based antenna system.
  • N0, not with your present equipment. To switch to DirecTV you would need to replace everything from the turret up. You will also find the same pricing increases with DirecTV that you have with DISH Network in about a year.
