I have Dish in my and home and want to have a receiver that I can take in the motor home while traveling. Do not want to have to use the main receiver, would like to order a 2nd receiver to move to motor home went needed. Will the 2nd receiver have to be setup by installer or can I just order the receiver from dish and setup over the phone? The other problem I may have is the receiver will be mounted in a over head cabinet and not line of site for IF remote. Is there a way around this?

I think I read somewhere the DISH NETWORK has a SAT RCVR and REMOTE CONTROL unit that uses both the IR and UHF modes to control the SAT RCVR from the handheld remote unit.Might want to check with DISH before buying the additional SAT RCVR for that available option.There is also a new thing on the forums recently about something being dropped with the DISH NETWORK that has to do with the NATL BROADCAST signals not being transmitted to the DISH SAT RCVRs anymore. Don't know if this may be an issue with you buying another SAT RCVR or not. Something to check on... Roy Ken

I have a second receiver a VP211 I take from the house and use in the motor home. I do have to set it up for the Winegard dome in MH. Winegard has the instructions. Not a big deal. A Dish VP211 is about $100.00 and costs $7.00 per month to activate, you can also get Dish per month only when you want. My biggest problem is being sure I set up where the signal is not blocked. My dome is on the roof of MH. I am looking at Winegards Pathway X2 which is a carry out for dish only, it will support 2 receivers, its on sale for $399 at PPL or $424 with a receiver. Dish customer service is excellent as is winegards.

Check Dishformyrv.com.I did not want to have to disconnect and reconnect a receiver from home every time we traveled. So I bought a vip211k receiver and a Tailgater for the RV and added it to the home account for $7/mo.Only difficulty may be connecting the dish antenna to the receiver. Depends on how your RV is wired. Dish antenna needs to be connected directly to the receiver, not going thru any intermediate devices. OK to use RV outside sat connection as long as you can connect directly to that on the inside.Once properly connected, setup and initialization is a do it yourself deal.

Get the real simple VIP211K or Z model and you will be... happy, happy, happy.Amazon has them both real cheap... fast shipping too.

On our current Florida visit, between the trip down from up north and moving from park to park every week or two, I'm running at almost 50-50 on using both arcs. I make my choice based on a good viewing window first of course, and then the better location for the dish. At our current location for example, I could "see" either arc ok, but using the western arc let me put the dish in a more convenient location with a shorter cable run. And as said, which arc has the locals in HD can also play into the decision. At one campground in VA, the only choice for locals was the western arc.

Depends where you're going. I visited about 40 campgrounds last year. In some I had to use my Eastern Arc LNB, in others the Western Arc LNB.

Generally I tried to use the Arc that had the local stations in HD, but sometimes trees got in the way so I had to use the other Arc.

Dutch, you are right but is is so much easier to have the extra arm. That way you leave the short coax connected to the LNBF and remove the two 1/4 x 20 1/2" bolts as opposed to one arm and removing two screws and two small bolts/nuts. 3X as fast my way. :)

I use my little pocket screwdriver to remove the two Phillips head self tapping screws that secure the LNBF to the plastic yoke on the end of the arm, and then unscrew the coax from the LNBF port. The reverse procedure is just as simple, and the whole switch only takes me two or three minutes at most. As soon as I find or make a couple of thumbscrews to replace the original screws, my whole dish assembly and setup, including switching LNBF's, will be tools free. Waiting for the check switch to complete is the longest part of the swap. ;)

A 1000.4 will work with any DISH VIP receiver (+ the Hopper).

After you connect the 1000.4 to your receiver & acquire the EA sats, just run a Check Switch.

I have a friend that is giving me a new Winegrad 1000.4 with the eastern arc LNB's. Will it work ok with the 211k? Any setting that need to change?

Local Networks are not being effected, only DNS Networks and as of today, they are one day late in going away! Hopefully, that's good news.
