Do you suggest dish or Direct TV service. Winegard came with unit so it wouldn't be difficult to add. We don't want to install either at home. We usually travel for a month at a time (4 times a year).

You are going to have to pay for them one way or another either with usingt your home address for dish/direct or by buying/having it installed the King Dome for over $1,000.

Been RV'ing full time for over 6 years and on the darkest rainiest day I have never been bored staying inside the MH watching all the channels that come over the air with the RV antenna for FREE.
World news
PBS Public TV channels
ALL the National Local Channels
Movie Channel
History channel
Nature Channel
etc, etc

I take the DirecTv receiver from the house and use a portable satellite dish to receive sat TV while camping. Real easy to set up and use. Except for buying the dish there aren't any additional costs. Just like watching TV at home.

I use the DirecTv remote to watch sat TV and then use the TV remote to watch over-the-air channels.

We get our High Definition TV fill just fine just using the available NATIONAL BROADCAST system from the local towns. Most things we watch is NCIS and local weather and news anyway hehe...

If we want to watch some of the CABLE CHANNELS then we can downstream over the internet I guess...

SO far NATL TV stations like CBS NBC etc and live radar from most of those stations suits us just fine... Each station is allowed up to six sub stations so you get to view more things other than just the National Stations. Lots of old movies and TV series shows.

Also lots of PBS broadcasts in foreign languages as well hehe...

The downside of course is trying to keep up with NASCAR and NFL football when on the road... Fm Radio and SIRIUS radio helps us here with their broadcasts.

Have Dish at home and in RV. Nothing but good things to say about Dish. Use the Tailgaiter as it is quicker and easier to set up than the dish receiver.

Another option which is getting better as technology improves is to use an internet connection to access TV & Movies. Services like ROKU, HULU,VUDU, Netflix, Amazon Prime and more can be accessed over the internet to view TV programs and Movies plus other content. In addition many of the broadcast companies provide streaming of their content from the company's website.

The key is to have a good internet connection which can be spotty at RV Parks. They are getting better but the best solution for now is to have your own connection through one of the cell based services.

There are associated fees and some of the services are cumbersome to use but they are getting better.

In my opinion, this type of internet based entertainment service will eventually replace satelite based service.

We have had Dish at home and in the RV for years and have been very happy with it.
