dish satelite

does anyone use Dish's satelite Internet? Was wondering, and if so
about how much per month if you already are a dish customer.
I just would like to know how reliable and how fast is it?

Thanks. Bj Safe travels :@

  • Dish does not actually have satellite internet service. They are resellers of a variety of providers like WildBlue mentioned above.
The problem is, for a forum about RVing, the services are not mobile. If you only want service at home and you can't get service from a cellular, cable or DSL provider then satellite internet works pretty well but is the slowest and most expensive option.

I'm on DishNET Gold right now, provided through WildBlue. It costs me $59/mo.
It's the first to go during a heavy rain storm. After I loose connection I usually have to reboot the modem to get it to work again.
Surfing the net speed is comparable to a public wifi such as McDonalds or the library.
We can watch Youtube but can't Skype. It sure beats dialup which is my only other option. I have had this for about 10 years now and don't foresee anything better coming along out here, so I'm OK with it.
  • The price of your Dish program will depend on what Dish package you choose. The range is about $29 to $100 per month. You can also get another receiver and just leave it in your RV. Taking the reciever in and out of your house is a pain in the butt. The extra receiver will cost $5 per month. Dish offers a wide variety of programing and the tech service is good as well.
