The offical dish line is one remote. However I have found that the system can be at least partially tricked to use two remotes. What I can not get it to do is run both the tv and the box on both remotes. Only one will connect to both. The other will not connect to the tv. Also, be aware of the fact that some dish remotes have a series of plastic colored chips that contol the frequencies that the remote operates on. We have 4 different colored "chips", numbered 1?4, each of a different color. These were older remotes for a VIP 711. Our current hopper has what appears to be a removable black chip on the bottom end but I have had no reason to see if it will pry off.
