DVD Player Died

The stock NL DVD/CD/Radio - the DVD stopped reading discs. I tried cleaning it with no luck. I am thinking about replacing it with the double din Pioneer AVH270BT (DVD player with blue tooth). The problem I have is it will it fit or will the original opening be too big? Looking for ideas. I want to replace the old unit so I can use the built in speaker system (otherwise I would just put a dvd player in it).
  • We had the same thing happen to our POS unit from the start. Our opening was different from other same units. We have an extra drawer. We couldn't find an RV unit that would fit.

Anyway, we just replaced our CD/stereo with an car unit and use a 12v portable DVD player. It works well for us. We rarely watch TV, but a movie every now and then is nice.
  • any double DIN will fit the opening for any other double DIN

the question is what are specs for the one you want to take out
do you have the paper work, it should tell you if it is double DIN
or give the dimensions for the install opening

You ask if the opening is too big. That can not happen. Too small yes but the opening is never too big

    WHY do I say this.

Block off plates of course.. You buy a sheet of material and cut it to fit, then you cut a new opening into it. That's all folks.

I thought it might be possible to create a frame around it. From my measurements the original pos is a little larger.
  • the new double DIN stereo will come with a mounting bracket
    that HAS to be USED
so if the old opening is too big
fill it from the inside or use a thick enough framing material to allow you to install the new bracket
  • If you have the room a home theater system with blu-ray player would be a better approach. This would give high definition playback using an HDMI connection to your TV along with surround sound audio. The blu-ray will also play DVDs and CDs. You can get a full system for about $200.

Here's one sold by Best Buy
