Well my 7 year old Jensen DVD/CD player gave up the ghost last weekend. It's been gradually getting worse over the last several months. I've tried cleaning it with a cleaning disc and blowing the dust out with a can of keyboard cleaner but no dice.My internet searches have turned up about 6 different brands of possible replacement DVD/CD/AM/FM package unit replacements. Besides Jensen there's Concertone, IRV, Magnadyne, Furrion & Elite. Could be some others that I didn't find as well. Prices range from around $200 up to $700.Seems like there's plenty of complaints on all of these brands as well. So I'm wondering is there really difference between these brands? Or are they like VCR's in the 1980's which were all made by one company and just branded differently. Is there a good brand out there? Or should I just buy the cheapest one I can find and plan on replacing it every few years?

I use 120VAC for all of my home entertainment so I can use the $29.95 DVD/CD player from Walmart just fine... When camping off-grid I use a PSW Power Inverter to run it...Roy Ken

In my opinion, buy individual components. Those quote - unquote combo units suck at best. I have best buy brands and for the most part are fine. My televisions and BluRay players are 12vdc and my new rig has a cd player that will be removed and a Ford car/truck 6 disc player installed.The BluRay players are for the TVs and play DVDs as well. I'd never buy another DVD player for use with a 1080 high resolution TV.

Where is the unit mounted? There are very good quality "in dash" units that can work in an RV. Alternatively, you can hide an inverter behind the TV and use a residential model.

Really??? Those are the standard brands(they are 12 volt) in a LOT of RV's, mostly towables. And YES, the prices are extreme for the type and quality they are. At the OEM level, they pay a LOT less, but on the Customer retail market, they are expensive. Unless you are stuck on using a 12 volt appliance go to a home type 120 appliance. Remove the existing and use the hole in the cabinet for storage. Doug

I thought I'd do a search for you and come up with a $100 unit like my Sony Xpl5d. Seems the technology has moved on - most manufacturers of single DIN units have gone to bluetooth playback.

What device are you using for storage of bluray files, to play back via bluetooth?

As BillyW said, there are a great many car A/V units that would work. Your space sounds like it's big enough for a standard double-DIN unit (or a single-DIN unit). Crutchfield is a very good standard supplier to shop at; they have good information and support, and prices that, while rarely the cheapest you could find, are not outrageous.

Love those TV - stereos - DVD - yaddah all-in ones.

When something breaks, anything malfunctions, the whole shootin' match fits in a trash can soooooooo nice...

12 volt device. Minus the 120 vac to 12 volt internal converter of the 120 volt conversion but costs twice as much.

Makes perfect sense, like offering identical brand and type of food, reduced salt, at twice the price. LOW SUGAR! HIGH PRICE! Makes prettyfartsmeller consumers jump for joy.
