For the electronic guys

I have a Harbor freight jump starter that the power supply cable broke off at the wall wort.

The old one had an output of 12V 500mA

I have one from an old HDD enclosure that has an output of 12V 2A

Can I use that without any problems? I assume I can

  • Measure the voltage of the HDD supply. If it measures 12 volts DC exactly, it won't work. It would charge your battery only to 12 volts which would not be fully charged. You need something in the neighborhood of 15 volts to get a full charge.

shouldn't be a problem. the old one had a max draw of 500ma whereas the new one has a max draw of 2amps.
