I think folks get caught up in things to the point that they forget there is more than one way to get the same result. There isn't an "only way" to do things. What works for one person doesn't work for another. What one person needs another person doesn't. The only dumb people out there are the ones who waste their money buying something because "it's the best way" without doing their own research to determine if it's the best way for them. What ends up being the "best way" is dependent upon the person and their own wants and needs. - AprilWhineExplorerand I forgot to add:
Synch with my Fitbit Zip to record my daily activity
Synch my Fitbit with My Fitness Pal so I can look at my phone to see if I'm allowed to eat something.
Read my Kindle books
I'm doing this on a Samsung GS3, not the latest technology - AprilWhineExplorer

No phone - smart or not - must be answered. That is a mental thing. My iPhone puts calls direct to voice mail between what hours I choose for what callers I choose, won't even ring. With 128 gig on iPhone 6 and replacement sd storage on many androids you are not any more likely to run out of storage than any other device. The advantage of a device that is always with you is pretty obvious versus the device at home. Many cheaper versus one more expensive is a personal choice I guess. A waterproof case fixes the creek issue unless it's the Columbia river.
That great memory amount you mention will just hold my music and nothing else. No books, no photos, no games, no apps.
The point of the creek comment is simply that if all your devices are tied up into one device and it breaks or gets lost, you lose the use of all the devices.
Of the people I know who have smart phones, only about 1/3 actually use it for more than texting, email and calls. For trhose who want them that's great - but those that don't aren't dinosaurs or dumb, they are doing what they want despite the marketing.
