Right, but that means ROMs will basically undo that change. Not so much allowing rooted apps to work better, but to work the same way they always have. Google seems to be tightening things down a bit.
SELinux in KitKat seemed to come as a surprise to pretty much everyone and now this. Google's plans aren't very well known at this point. Also, as that article points out, that commit may go away in the future as well. Or it could be the first of many and root as we know it might be a thing of the past. It's as clear as mud right now.
