Free Draw Scam At Camping World Burlington WA

Let's see; if you are in Washington odds are you got a call from K/M resorts. They seem to have a kiosk in every Camping World in the NW. Fill out any form at Camping world in the NW and you will hear from them. Everyone wins at least 3 nights camping and most will win a membership in the nearest K/M campground (Just pay the dues).

We are not members but have stayed at a couple of their campgrounds and really like them, just not enough to pay the money to join or pay the dues.

Don't understand your complaint. ANY drawing in ANY store is a scam. Tell my DW NOT to put our name, address and email on any stores so called drawing. Almost all are not sponsored by the store, they just use the store for this nonsense.

If you buy a RV there you get the personal phone call along with 10 days of free camping subject to the "tour" and $1,000 off

If a drawing upsets you that much do business with someone else. The reasonable expectation is if you fill out a form for a free "whatever" your name and number will be sold. It is no different anywhere.

For the very same reason I don't buy Girl Scout Cookies sold door to door.

Next year 2 more Girl Scouts will be knocking on your door. Then the Fuller Brush and Police Benevolent League shows up, the Avon Lady starts climbing over your front gate. It's madness I say!

And remember that "FREE RAFFLE" spelled backwards is "ELFFART"!

Hint - never fill out any form for a free drawing any where. They are all solicitating your contact information for follow up phone calls and/or e-mail bombardments.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion. However, I think it is a long stretch to call normal marketing tactics 'abuse'. Nobody has to sign up for the (not really) free drawing so there is no abuse put on anybody. Maybe the better words would be 'agressive marketing strategies' instead of 'abuse'. The RV time share folks most likely asked CW to help with a $500 prize (retail price) that really costs about $250 in store cost to acquire names of RVers that are customers of the store. And the store agreed. And many of the stores customers also agreed since the OP indicated that the box was full. I just don't see any real duress or abuse here. Since the OP did not ask what would happen with the names in the drawing, the store did not share that. Isn't there culability on on both sides? If you don't ask you don't get.

I am certainly not sticking up for CW or the marketing strategies and have long ago passed on the free meal offered by those time share developers/sales force personnel since I can eat the cheap meal in a half hour and don't need to listen to a four hour presentation on something I have no interest in acquiring. This has been a good learning curve for the OP and next time he might pass on the not free really drawing. Whether we like these strategies or not I doubt they are going away anytime soon.

They need to DISCLOSE that they are going to use your 'personal information'.

If this statement was NOT on the raffle ticket. I would definitely take it up with CW. Time to stick their feet to the fire regarding privacy laws.

I tell the wife all the time, I don't care if the free offer GAURANTEES an extra 5 years of life, don't sign up for it....
