- RoyBExplorer III got the WIN 10 ICON on two of my window 7 machines and two of my WIN 8.1 machines... Waiting for them to download those after July 29th. I assume that is how they might be doing it. It will probably just show up as a WIN Software Upgrade.
The way I understand it if you have not registered for the upgrade and being approved by MS you will have to do something else to get it free from MS. My four computers all have the WINDOWS LOGO in the TASKBAR locations asking me to register for a WIN 10 FREE upgrade... Happened here about a week ago...
Search GOOGLE for more info...
Roy Ken - Iraqvet05ExplorerI got the upgrade notification on 2 of my 3 Win 7 machines and registered for the upgrade on the two that allowed me. I believe MS is trying to save some customers after many complained about their 8.x experience. I'm going to upgrade a laptop and a desktop after the July 29 roll out and see how they perform.
If you have a genuine version of Win 7 (with SP 1) or 8, you should get an upgrade notification on your task bar at some point. - OH48LtExplorerMany months ago, it was said that anyone with Vista, W7 or W8 would get a free upgrade to W10. The Vista upgrade has apparently been withdrawn. The one laptop that I have with Vista is pretty much useless with that op system, think I'll just throw it in a dumpster.
- Bill_SatelliteExplorer IIThe software is not scheduled to start doing user downloads until after JULY 29th.
- tvman44ExplorerSaw it in the news paper?
- DD716TEDExplorerI am running Windows 7 on a 3 month old computer... I requested the free Windows 10 update offered but once downloaded, not yet sure when I will install it... will wait for user feedback first.
- neschultzExplorerI tried it a month or so ago and quite a few of my most used apps wouldn't work. All drivers weren't available. So I went back to 8.1 and it never fully restored everything. I've still got one or two apps that wont work. When I try to reinstall Microsoft Jigsaw, it has a neat error message that says my Surface 3 doesn't meet all the app requirements....yet the app page states that I have the app installed on my tablet. I'm waiting for all the bugs to be ironed out before trying it again.
- Bill_SatelliteExplorer IIThe "standard" Win 10 will not allow you to defer updates until a time of your choosing. As a cellular data user that could cost me a lot of money so I see no option but to NOT install Win 10 or pay for a Pro version which does allow you to control your updates.
- icanonExplorerAlthough I'm a Mac I never date until a few months to allow time to fix bugs, issues etc.
Not an early adapter. - tmmarExplorerGot the invite and decided to go with 10 because I don't really like 8.1. Hopefully it will work out.
