- TripleEExplorerHas anyone seen the 760 for sale anyplace beside the internet? I am considering buying one but would prefer to hold it in my hands to check it out first. Thanks
- broboxExplorerCallThisCamping.....Awesome review, Thank You! Nice to hear what it "can" do.
- CallThisCampingExplorerI ordered the RV 760 while on Long Island to replace my 2460 which was not RV friendly but now resides in our toad, the Jeep Liberty.
I love this GPS. The database of campgrounds is amazing, I have yet to search for a campground that I locate on a map or RV Parky that it hasn't found. The amount of information it presents is awesome. Someone asked about the dashboard feature, just touch the lower right information field (defaults to arrival time) and you get a list of all the data you can put it that field, such as time to via, arrival time at via (or destination), elevation, and many others, even current mile marker. And this list is updated in real time, so you don't have to choose one field, you can see many.
I subscribed to smartphone link traffic and weather. It pops up a window showing traffic or construction ahead, how far away it is, and what the expected delay is. Rest stops automatically appear on the top bar showing direction and mile marker info, then slide gracefully to the side where they can be recalled with a touch.
Same with severe weather alerts, even an animated weather map.
No, it doesn't show propane restricted routes, but I have to say, in my 14 years of RV'ing, I have never needed that warning and I think it's just nit-picky. And coming off of Long Island, I was routed correctly so maybe it knows where you should go and where you shouldn't. (I don't wish the cross-Brooklyn expressway on anyone, but sometimes ya gotta.) And by the way, if you're going onto Long Island, take the Tappan Zee and not the George Washington Bridge.
And speaking of that, This GPS has GREAT lane guidance, even giving you REAL TIME ANIMATED lane view you have to see to believe. A true life saver. The voice guidance says things like "be in either of the two left hand lanes".
If you can afford it, get it. Try it out. - vermilyeExplorer

Rather than "Direct Route", an option I would love is "Stay on this road until I tell you to take another one." I don't know how many time while driving secondary roads my Garmins have insisted on hopping off the highway I'm on to route me to another or through a city, then back onto the highway I was on. If I want a tour of a near by city, I'll do it; I don't want the Garmin to do it for me!Bucky Badger wrote:
You know what would be nice is if GPS's had a "direct route" mode. To me that would cure a lot of the routing issues..We have "Less Gas" "Fastest Time" or "shortest Distance" Most people use fastest time, sure the GPS most likely save us 4 seconds in that mode, but the direst route would be nice
Be careful what you wish for. Direct route can take you on dirt roads if you select that option. It would be no different than shortest distance and my 7200 will take you on dirt roads with that selected. - Bucky_BadgerExplorer

That's the thing there is no option. There would be a time and a place to use it - broboxExplorer

For those of us unfamiliar with your area, what does this mean? Is the GPS routing you properly?1775 wrote:

Shoreco - I am also on LI. Will it route you on the Southern State or the Northern State or any of the parkways? I tried the Rand McNally and it routed me on those roads with a 10' height clearance put into the settings. The Rand went back and now I am waiting on hearing what the Garmin RV will do. Thanks!
I am 12'6" and even though I live 1/4 mile off Southern State,it routes me to Sunrise or LIE...
Yes.... - vermilyeExplorer

Sorry to get your hopes up - I guess the guy at Garmin didn't actually check to see that the RV 760 would do the same as my 3580.
The RV760 LMT unfortunately, is not a dashboard capable unit. I have a 2595 with 4 programmable dashboard areas. You can change the data on the RV7650 LMT dashboard but it is not the same as other dashboard capable units. I really miss it and the lack of dashboards in the RV760LMT may be the reason I sell it. Apparantly Garmin has a bad habit of creating nice features such as dashboards only to remove that feature on the next years units. Are you listening Garmin?
I'm not at all sure Garmin listens to their users. Maybe it is just me, but it seems that with every new model series, the drop many of the most useful features or the old model and add new ones that I for one don't need or want. It may be because they are trying to simplify the device for people who don't do a lot of traveling. - 1775Explorer

Thanks so much for your response. For those not familiar with this area, the RV760 IS routing properly. The parkways that it is routing around have 7'10" height restrictions. The Rand McN RV unit did not do this properly and routed right on to both of those roads. - Pirate1ExplorerThe RV760 LMT unfortunately, is not a dashboard capable unit.
