Good cheap fix for your laptop, I would say.
DH is about to tear into his. His screen is going bad. He will order a screen off the 'net, then lookup the Youtube video on how to change it. Somewhere someone has already done it and filmed it. A screen is $40 normally.
Last year my Mom's laptop went dead, so he put new ram and motherboard and a CPU in it and it's good as new. Cost? $60.
A few years ago, the screen on my Gateway went out. He replaced that and the inverter and updated the ram at the same time. Cost? $80.
I'm glad he's so handy. He has no background in computers, but is pretty much a jack of all trades. Just follows the videos.
We really can't carry around extra monitors or anything like that since we fulltime. Laptops aren't as "throwaway" as they appear.
