GMAIL ON IPAD

Personally
I would rather see ads for RVs, electronics..Etc
Than all the junk ads that used to pop up

I've used the gmail app for IPhone and found the Apple app just as easy to use if not easier, and integrated with all the other IPhone/IPad features that let you mail. So why use another app if the one that is built in does what I need.

I actually stopped using gmail or for the most part any Google product as I find it disturbing that they track so much of what one does, says when using their products. May be fine for some folks, but I find it annoying that after I do a simple Google search say for golf clubs the next webpage I bring up has an ad for golf equipment, golf courses, etc.

I assume you are using the built in apple mail app
Next to the archive button there is a folder button.
Click it and a few options will appear in a left column, one of those is the trash can. Be careful here, zip and it's gone.

I archives everything, it's quicker.

You can download the dedicated Gmail app, it has the garbage icon.

When you setup gmail using the iPad mail app it defaults to archive versus delete which is why he is seeing an archive folder when he looks at the mail. By going into settings and changing the selection from archive to delete it should change the icon to a trash can. The actual setting Is two or three levels into the settings for mail.

I think all I do is press the filename for a few seconds and a menu comes up with all things I can do with the file including DELETE.... Is this the same thing you all are talking about?

I have never gone to the GMAIL ACCT online so it may be all I am doing is just DELETING the tablet or CELLPHONE that I picked up from the WIFI Internet. I know my tablet and DROID Cell phone really get a bunch of these emails that are about alot of things. If they are not pertinent I just delete them by pressing down on the filename and selecting DELETE from the menu that came up...

Did you down load the app or trying to use gmail thru Safari?

App is the easiest.

I had the same issue when I first setup Mail on my iPad. There is a setting for it in the settings app.
