Just like anything, Nikon lenses are not created equal. They are made to specific standards for specific companies

Go to tadibrothers.com which has excellent systems/kits and components and also signal amplifiers for more reach with long RV's and trailers.

No I don't have that one
But the same effected system, is available directly from Amazon, shipped by Amazon, by purchasing the monitor and camera separately,
Perhaps a few $ more, but able to return to Amazon if unhappy

As for monitor failure even the expensive systems have a limited time warranty for the display
It might be 90 days Or 6 months but it's limited

I bought THIS camera on Amazon for $15 shipped. I attached it to the top of a metal license plate frame. My experience agrees with most of the reviewers -- great quality picture! It doesn't include a monitor, but did include enough cable to run from the license plate frame under the truck, and ending up on the dash. I plugged mine into my CTS Edge Insight Monitor (provides digital gauges from data off the OBD2 port). You could use any monitor designed for these cameras.

Below is a pic of the monitor -- it's in gauge mode in the pic, but as soon as I put the truck in reverse, it automatically goes to the rear view picture.

Tom ... Your point on this, is a good one, and one I had not considered.
I read some reviews by RV'ers on this,and they seemed good, but none of them reflected the Mirror Image point.
I will NOT buy it because of this.

Mr Wizard ... I saw this one, but was a bit concerned by the reviews. Quite a few cited failure by the vendor to be cooperative when the monitor failed. Do you actually have one of these, or have any other input on the reviews ?

This one makes more sense to me

If this is the system you are considering, the biggest problem will be that it does not do a mirror image. This would make it a bit confusing when backing up.
