The big surprise was yesterday, when the agent told me that my 4g would be gone, period, when I reached 22 Gb on my extra phone. That went against everything I had held for fact, for the last six years, or whenever I foolishly gave up my, truly, unlimited data.
This agent contradicted the agent yesterday and also told me that I could run the hotspot through the laptop via standard HDMI connection and reduce usage significantly. That is what I occasionally did in the past, before I bought the Smart tv. I don't have an HDMI adapter for this phone, although I have had one for older phones. The older phone also had an image duplication feature, which the new phone does not.
The new Verizon "unlimited plans" limit the amount of data that can be used by ALL of the lines on your plan, not the amount of data used on each phone. That's 22Gb of shared data but only 15Gb of data on a MiFi device. If you hit the limit on the MiFi you are subject to "Network Optimization" which does not mean you "will" be throttled but rather that you may be throttled based upon the network usage on your particular tower. Once you go beyond 22Gb of total usage on your plan then all devices are subject to Network Optimization. If you are in an area with a lot of users you will likely suffer badly. If you are in Quartzsite during the Summer you will likely not notice much of a difference.
You asked about T-Mobile. They have a 55+ plan for a maximum of 2 lines (one of which could be setup to utilize the hotspot feature) for $70/month TOTAL. If you would like to add 10Gb of 4G hotspot data it adds $10/month or you can add TRULY unlimited hotspot data for $25/month. That means for $95/month you could have 2 phones with unlimited talk and text plus unlimited data (serious, unlimited) for $95/month. I dropped Verizon after about a million years and we are now T-Mobile customers.
