Help with 211z Receiver

I am thinking about buying a Tailgater and a 211 receiver. The latest version of the 211 is the "Z". I will be going from the 211 to a Quest Video Control Center that only has coax for the sat. in connection. The Z uses HDMI or RCA , can I convert one of these to coax without losing to much pic quality? Or should I get the older 211k which also has the coax out?

Jeff
  • Not the question asked, but I have a Tailgater love it.Best price I found was on Amazon.

Yes, you can convert the RCA connections to coax output using a RF Modulator. You don't lose anything other than no HD. Now watching SD instead of HD is a dramatic loss but if you are comparing using the SD RCA output compared to the RCA/RF Modulator output, they will be the same.
The only way to get HD to a TV would be via HDMI.
  • I think you'd be better off with the full featured 211k instead of the more limited 211z. The only downside I can think of is the slightly larger footprint of the k. The lack of an RF output and the need for an extra cost external OTA adapter were enough to cause me to go with the k over the z for my low cost (under $250) satellite system.
