Hopper without dish or internet...

Anyone know if I can use the hopper like a DVD player? IOW, just unplug it from the house and set it into the trailer and plug it into the TV. Then just play already recorded content?
Thanks
Dan

  • Guess what?

You can upload Hooper content to a cell phone, we do it every trip. Special HDMI cable can be found on Amazon. Xlnt quality HD format, easy setup. If you have dish Hooper do yourself a favor and look into how easy it is, you'll be glad you did.

  • Thanks Everyone.
The only reason I did not test this myself is it's a royal pain to extract from the entertainment center. Now that I have some confidence that it will work, I will take it out and try it.
  • Yes you can move the whole box with internal hard drive

This works, this is not the same question that some ask..
Being able to move external drive from one box to another box
    That does not work

Moving the whole box does work

moving it from house to RV, is the same as moving it to another room in the house, and forgetting to connect the ant/cable feed
  • I know if I lose sat signal on my hopper at home due to heavy clouds it says I can still watch prerecorded programs. So I would guess that would be no different than moving it to the RV and having no signal.
  • I thought I was told here that I couldn't do this with my 211 receiver with the external hard drive as the format was proprietary or some such
    bumpy
  • un plug it from house and hook up in trailer and see if you get a pic.....
  • Yes. It takes a while to figure out there is no signal and get past the error screen but it is do able.
