How good is this tablet?

Does anybody have any experience with this tablet?
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/insignia-8-tablet-16gb/5157800.p?skuId=5157800

I want to buy a new tablet to run CoPilot on and display information of the OBDII dongle. I don't need to do any internet surfing or gaming etc. with it. Any suggestion whether this thing is suitable for my needs?

    I saw a 7" Samsung at Walmart.com @ $69. Why take a chance?

Thanks for the advise. However, the only one I can find is this for $70.99 Refurbished Samsung Galaxy Tab E Lite 7.0" 8GB
I can't find any indication in the description that it is able to do GPS and Bluetooth, and it has only 8GB of memory, which means, I would have to by a card to expand this (which would raise the price)
  • To follow up on my question. How about Acer tablets? I have an Acer desktop computer and am pretty happy with this.

I see now that refurbished Acer tablets can be had from Newegg for really good money. What do you think about this?

  • Take your software or description in to BB and ask. They will usually tell you the way to go. I bought a Samsung for the DW, the staff said it was great for her use, it is. Other times, usually with cash in hand, I've asked and gotten great answers, including that X's store product is better for the price. We have a lot of Insignia products at home and in the Winnie.

Lots of problems with LG and Visio but not with Insignia products.
  • Have no familiarity with Insignia products other than those here on the forum who convert their TVs to power them from their onboard 12 volt supply. Maybe one of their more capable tablets will do the trick. If you are talking about using a OBD2 dongle via Bluetooth I would think most decent tablets would work. My tablet is over 2 years old and has no issues running CoPilot along with any Bluetooth enabled android programs. Install a microSD card when you get your tablet that way you can load the majority of CoPilot unto your SD card. I would go the OBDII dongle route but already have Scangauge2 installed to view critical vehicle info.
  • Just to be contrary...

My desktop monitor is a 10 yr old LG 22"
Still as sharp as the day I bought it.
  • Nice to know that I'm not the only one that's also had mediocre luck with LG products.

I do not know who makes all the Insigna products but I know back in the days when I bought a DIGITAL to ANALOG converter the Insigna was a re-painted Zenith

Now Zenith 50 years ago, their ads were "The quality goes in before the name goes on" and independent lab testing rated zenith TV's for example as the best in the business picture wise.. if you were willing to work for it. (I had one, agree)

Today Zenith is owned by LG (Lucky Goldstar) and I've never been Lucky enough to be happy with a goldstar Product.. In fact I've been royally ticked off by them.. That includes the Insignia Converter, My RV's Zenith VCR (never worked right) And Dometic Microwave (Works right now, but that's cause I fixed it, had to re-engineer a couple things) or the older MIcrowave at the office (Caught fire by design) or the monitors I sold in the Comptuer store (Most common returned under warranty item we sold).

NOT a fan of LG products as you can guess.
  • I could just be me, but I've not had good luck with Insignia products. I've had two different items and they both had pretty short lifespans. Just a data point.
  • Looking at the specs, it may do one or the other, but not both at the same time. I tried doing both at the same time, and it was just too much for a Tablet. One thing I can't find in the specs is how much memory it has, and that will help determine if you can run 2 things at once.
