How to stop automatic win 10 upgrade

I upgraded because I got tired of the pop up every time I turned on my PC. I actually like W10. There are a few pitfalls. My email still doesnt work properly, but I did find a work around. Microsoft Edge is a joke. photos dont load, anything that runs flash dont work, and Java script stall all the time. I just keep using Firefox. I do now have a few programs that dont work, and now my $800 large format printer wont work. Hoping they get some updated drivers for it soon or I am goig to have to buy a new printer and I will not be happy.

And to respond to the topic - I have Win 7 and have turned off updates long ago. I'm happy with the performance of my PC.

Windows 10 is awesome and better than any previous windows version. The reality is that they are NOT going to continue support for anything older so why "dig in" when you are going to have to change anyways? Also, it's free!

7 was good I agree but 10 won't disappoint. Skipping 8.x is the best thing you could do.

Yeah, the recent change in MS policy changing W10 from optional to recommended was the final impetus to me get off my *** and upgrade DW's laptop.

She's been having increasingly erratic behaviour from W7. I suspect the W7 cracks are getting bigger as everyone's emphasis shifts to W10.

I have a one year old Dell XPS desktop with I7 and 32 gigs of ram with Professional Windows 7 and IE11 - I like it just fine the way it is. I don't want MS WIN10. Having said that, I spent $900 for a new laptop two months ago with WIN10 preloaded because I didn't think WIN10 could be as bad as I kept hearing. I don't like it at all. I'm taking classes on it next month to try and figure it out so my money isn't wasted.

My opinion is MS is going to force everyone to WIN 10, then they can quit selling MS Office and force everyone there to go with the monthly rental plan. When they do that, I'm going to Apple.

Remember in recent news how Connecticut raised taxes on business to increase the state's revenue? General Electric said enough and is moving to Boston. That sure got Connecticut some more money didn't it? Well, I think the same thing will happen to MS in the end trying to force their will on their customers. Even more of them will switch to Google Chrome and Apple.

I meant the upgrade to win 10 is 6 gigs.

Thanks for the heads-up on that. I have auto-update shut off, and I always check out any updates, so I should be good for a while. This whole deal with W10 sucks any way you look at it.

I just downloaded the GWX program and it was 4.5 meg.
