ripped DVD's won't be HD, stored DVD video frames are 720*480
the picture portion is typically 800+ by 386~408, when expanded and the upper lower black bars not included
depending on the software used, the transcode to MP4, will create the exact size video frames
ripping originally meant just copying the files to the HD
but now is usually taken as including the conversion to another format
any of the devices listed should handle the ripped/converted DVD's
the OP did NOT mention HD bl-ray discs
