HR-24 receiver question

Just took my new DirectTV HR24-500 receiver with me on a trip. Knowing I would be in one location where trees prevented getting a signal, I recorded a bunch of programs to watch. However, the receiver, trying to search for a signal, would re-boot every 7 minutes (error 771). This made watching a pre-recorded program impossible.

Is this normal for a HR24? Is there some way to stop the receiver from searching for a signal?
  • This happened with our HR24 just last week for the first time. Never was a problem before. I'm guessing some new software broke it.

Interested to see what anybody else reports.

  • You may need a bband converter. If using a directv slimline dish with multiswitch set up.

He's trying use the DVR portion of the sat box without being connected to a dish.
  • It has nothing to do with any kind of a converter, B-Band or otherwise.
Click on the link. The info is all there.

    Thanks for the link Bill,

Didn't know what phrasing to use to search for this. Interesting that thread is so recent, but glad to hear there may be a fix coming. Hard to believe DTV would incorporate this on purpose as it really doesn't benefit them that much if any.
