- camperpaulExplorerThose wireless thermometers are "Part 15" devices and use a 433 MHz radio link.
They MUST NOT cause interference to licensed users of that frequency and they MUST ACCEPT all interference from the licensed users.
If you live within 10 miles of Ivanhoe, Illinois they won't work because there is a Ham Radio TV station (N9AB) on that frequency band.
Back in the '80s and '90s I was involved in *EME communications and the ERP of my station on 432,025 MHz was only 500KW.

Me too. It is powered by AA & AAA batteries. I velcroed the inside unit to the wall next to the door and put a lanyard on the outside remote. I can hang it wherever it will be shady and in my face when I get ready to leave. - Gonzo42ExplorerThere was one left in our rig by the previous owner. I don't like it very much since it doesn't give the actual temp outside, but the temp in a city one chooses from the menu. Kind of disappointing.
I’ve had a perfectly wonderful evening, but this wasn’t it. Groucho Marx - BumpyroadExplorerjust bought a couple at walmart for 9.99 each. work great.
bumpy - BobboExplorer III have this wireless indoor/outdoor thermometer. The outside sensor is attached to the top center of this bonnet that I put on my windshield. It is out of the sun and rain being right below the overhang. I use it spring and fall. Summer, I know it's hot and winter I know it's cold.
- wa8yxmExplorer IIIThere are two kinds of Indoor/outdoor thermometers.
One of those can also be divided into two types. Liquid and Electronic.
This type has a remote bulb or sensor and a line or wires that connect to the display inside the RV.. They are nice, but you need to route the sensor line and you are lmited as to how much line you have. I might get one to monitor the temps in my wet bay some day since I need drill no holes to get there.
The other is a wireless unit with a battery operated remote.
I used to have three of those, one remote was directly behind the front bumper (Actually attached to the windshield washer bottle on my rig)One under the steps with the battery (now failed, it was failed when I put it there and i rebuilt it twice already) and the other is in the propane bay. - RV_CONUSExplorerBeen using this one for almost a year. Best one I have had. Versatility.
Keep one remote in one each side of RV in a bay. Like it a lot.
Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer - TrackrigExplorer IIGo down to 8:13 PM last night to BobsYourUncle's posting and you'll see the same discussion.
Bill - weathershakExplorerI had mine under the spare tire cover which worked ok. I ended up putting it in the fridge and can monitor fridge temps at a glance. :) Gotta keep the beverages cold.
