iOS 9.x and an iPhone 5S

I just upgraded the OS on my iPhone 5S to iOS 9. the result is that I no longer have a landscape view in some apps, notably Safari. I've looked for a new option in 'settings' to no avail. is this a bug?
  • You need to reboot your phone. Hold the Home and On/Off buttons down together. When you see a white Apple logo let go. To start the phone, hold down the On/Off switch until the phone starts. You no landscape issue should be gone. If this doesn't do it, you can use iTunes to reload the OS.
  • The same thing happened on my 5S when I updated to OS9. I also had another issue at that time, so I shut the phone down and restarted it, and this fixed the screen rotate problem. It never happened again.
  • If you run your finger up the screen from the bottom you should see the setting for rotation. It's a lock surrounded by a circular arrow. If it's lit up it won't rotate.
  • Is it just safari that won't go to landscape or all apps? Are you sure you have not set the iPhone not to rotate?

How long ago did you upgrade? There is a 9.1 that came out about a day after 9

the update I have is 9.1 and I have powered off/on. apparently this is not a bug in the download but a bug in the OS, right?

  • With my iPad it's the oposite, it was fixed. On the previous update I had to turn it off and on to flip to landscape mode.
Hang in there, all will be fixed, it always is.
