I have had my iPhone 5S for 3 weeks. My first smartphone, but long time Apple consumer - iPads, Mac computers.
So for so good. I use the Lifeproof case which is excellent, but expensive. I really like that the thumb reader works with the case installed. Check that feature before you jump on the Otterbox. The Otterbox is also a quality case, but big and bulky in my opinion.
