Is there any way to opt out?

I use Thunderbird with multiple GMail.com, Outlook.com, and AOL.com accounts with no ads. It's always been free. Only use Outlook at work. Even-though, Microsoft licensing allows us the latest MS Office suite for less than $20. on personal systems.

Just note that domain name based email may afford ad-free emails. But its accounts and contents no more secure than using a free email provider? Not unless you setup, run, maintain your own mail servers. You're relying on the shared (?) hosting provider to do so? Plus, their server admin has full access to all your accounts and contents. Nothing is really private.

many adds enter via windows... my opinion

I use Windows 7 Pro and firefox 64 bit..
no adds and no program to block adds.. except what is part of firefox.

I use yahoo mail.. no adds.

Thunderbird is NOT web based, it's a stand-alone client installed on your PC. Installed clients typically use less data than webmail for the same mail pieces.

One of the reasons I switched my yahoo account to Outlook client. I hate webmail.

I use gmail with outlook. Works great. No ads.

In general I would agree with you but I have stuck with the Gmail web interface because it works, no ads, I don't have to install any software to use it, and it has an integrated telephone. I have to use the Outlook web interface on my phone for work (due to a VPN) but I truly wish I could switch to the phone based client.

Sounds just like Thunderbird, which is not web based. You might try checking it out first.

The ads serve one valuable service. They remind us of how much "tracking" there is on the Internet.

Not sure what I did, but I clicked on "add free" on my yahoo email, and for 29 bucks I'm completely add free for a year. I never been happier. Sure beats DTV, where I pay a fortune, and still swamped w/ adds !!

They all suck now. I won't use them.

Go to go daddy and buy a dot com for around 10 bucks a year. You get a free email acct with it. When I open my mail tthatis all I get period. No ads, no spam
